Amidst all the rumours about the next iteration of iPhone and Pixel devices, there is a show stealer emerging from behind — the fifth phone from OnePlus.

Rumour mills have been churning information related to the upcoming OnePlus device — dubbed the OnePlus 5.

The company has confirmed that their next flagship, which will succeed the OnePlus 3 and 3T, will hit the stands this summer.

According to a report by The Verge, OnePlus isn’t naming the next device OnePlus 5 due to the Chinese superstition of 4 being an unlucky number, rather because of Robert Horry’s number 5 jersey in the NBA.

Apparently, the employees at OnePlus’ Shenzhen office are fans of the basketball player.

OnePlus has emerged as a flagship killer — offering high-end specs at a much lower price than their competition such as Apple, Google and Samsung.

Rumoured Features of OnePlus 5

There has been no official statement on the what all features the new flagship device from OnePlus will sport, but the phone was listed on a retail site Oppomart with the following specs.

Source
  • Display: 5.5-inch Quad HD display (2560×1440)
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 64GB/128GB
  • Camera: 12MP dual lens rear camera and 8MP front camera
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 GPU
  • Battery: 3580mAh with Dash Charge 2.0.
  • OS: Oxygen OS based on Android Nougat.

Other than this, earlier rumours came from Chinese site PCPop which claimed that the OnePlus 5 will sport an 8GB RAM and no physical home button.

There are a lot of rumours that’ll surface until there is some official statement from the company regarding the specifications of its upcoming device.

Nonetheless, it’s a great news for all of those who wish to go for the next OnePlus or OnePlus 3 owners who felt a bit cheated after the release of OnePlus 3T.

There is no contesting the fact that OnePlus will be looking forward to snooping into Apple, Google and Samsung’s flagship device sales and if they keep do justice to their pricing — as they’ve done till now — then they might emerge as clear winners in the flagship race this year.
