Soon after launching its much acclaimed Nintendo Switch in March this year, the company has turned its heads towards another portable console — the Nintendo 2DS XL — which is scheduled to be launched on July 28, 2017.
An addition to the Nintendo 3DS console line, the 2DS XL will be offered at a price of $149.99 in North America upon its release.
The Nintendo Switch will be launched alongside two new games for the Nintendo 3DS consoles — Hey!Pikmin and Miitopia.
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market. The new Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO, Nintendo (North America).
What Does the Nintendo 2DS XL Pack?
The upcoming portable console by Nintendo will be available in black/turquoise colour and borrows some features from the 3DS XL console too.
The 2DS XL features the same 4.8-inch display found on the 3DS XL.
As the name suggests, the visuals displayed are in 2D.
The console’s lower screen has built-in NFC support for amiibo cards and figures.
Users will be able to play Nintendo 3DS games in 2D on the device.
The Nintendo 2DS XL features parental controls, helping parents manage what their children can access.
The Two New Games
Hey!Pikmin and Miitopia games will be launched for the DS consoles of Nintendo alongside the launch of the 2DS XL console and here we see what they’re all about.
Hey!PIKMIN: Players will need to guide Captain Olimar, help him collect Sparklium to refuel his crashed ship and escape the planet.
The touch screen helps make the game more fun as it’s now easier to fend off enemies and solve puzzles during Olimar’s adventure.
