Now they’re ready to tap into the billion-strong prospective market of consumers with a new product which was first launched in 2014.
The Amazon Fire TV stick is upgraded with support from Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa which also adorns the company’s smart home Echo devices.
The voice assistant will be accessible via the remote control supplied alongwith the device and there is also a dedicated button to access Alexa.
With Amazon’s Fire TV stick, you can watch shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and other streaming services, play games, access thousands of apps and also subscribe to TV channels.
The device has been launched at a price of Rs.3999 . The customers who purchase a Fire TV Stick and sign up for Amazon Prime membership will receive a Amazon Pay account credit worth Rs.499. Existing Amazon Prime members can also avail this offer.
“Fire TV stick offers access to a vast selection of movies and TV shows, popular apps, and features designed specifically in India including powerful voice search for Amazon Video titles in Hindi and English,” said Marc Whitten, Vice President, Amazon Fire TV.
The Amazon Fire TV Stick is powered by MediaTek quad core processor, which clocks at 1.3GHz, 1GB RAM and can store 8GB worth of data.
Users can stream Full HD videos at 1080p using the Fire TV Stick with Dolby Digital audio for 5.1 and 7.1 channel system.
The device is powered by Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa which helps you start Game of Thrones on your TV as well as order a pizza to go alongwith and book a Uber to go to your friend’s place afterwards. Alexa will take commands in both English and Hindi.
The device is WiFi and Bluetooth enabled and games on the Fire TV can also be played using a compatible Bluetooth controller.
“Fire TV stick also offers Data Monitoring and other features to help customers in India get the most from their data plan and stream more content using less bandwidth,” Whitten added.
Price is going to play a major factor in determining the popularity of the device as the services it offers are being offered by others too. Other than the pricing, integration of Alexa in the Fire TV remote is another unique factor of the streaming stick — making it easier to search for things.
India has an emerging market for internet connected things and smart home devices and Amazon’s fire stick will be an invaluable addition to the company’s services which include Prime videos in the country.
Tie-Up with Internet Providers and Premium Subscriptions
Amazon has entered into a tie up with internet service providers like Airtel and YOU. Customers who purchase the Fire TV stick will receive 100GB of free data on Airtel broadband which will be valid for three months from activation and will receive 240GB of free data from YOU broadband.
Purchasing the Fire TV stick will also get the users six months of Gaana app subscription, three months of Eros Now subscription and a month of ad-free streaming from Voot and Voot kids.
