Reliance Jio’s disruptive free service under the Happy New Year offer is about to end on March 31, 2017, and many users are doubtful regarding what happens to their Jio sim if they don’t subscribe to Prime membership?
A total of 10 tariff plans have been announced for Jio prepaid subscribers and three for postpaid, which will have to be availed after the free services end at the end of this month — either with or without the Prime membership.
Jio Prime membership is an annual subscription worth Rs.99, which will deem you eligible to receive 1GB data at a nominal price of Rs.10.
The cheapest plan starts at Rs.19 for 200MB (Prime members) and 100MB (non-Prime) data with a single day of validity and the most expensive plan costs Rs.9999 which will be valid for 360 days and provide 750GB of data for Prime members and 200GB data alongwith 30 days of validity for non-Prime.

No Free Services After March 31
There is a misconception among the users that Jio voice calling services will remain free even after March 31, which is certainly not true.
Non-prime users who do not recharge from one of the Jio tariff plans before April 1, 2017, will face a termination of services.
Enrolling into the Prime membership isn’t the end of the road either. You need to recharge from among a number of packs, which start at Rs.49 for three days for prepaid members and Rs.303 for postpaid members.
Failing which outgoing services from your Jio sim will be blocked after the validity of the current pack expires and incoming services will be disconnected within 90 days.
Should I Opt for Prime Subscription?
Jio faced a lot of network errors especially in densely populated areas and when interacting with other network carrier numbers, but in the past month, their service has improved significantly.
Given the cheap tariffs, if your area of residence receives good Jio connectivity or even if you travel quite often, getting a Jio sim makes sense.
If you’re planning to use Jio sim even after the free services end, then subscribing to the Prime service isn’t a bad deal at all, especially since you’ve much more to gain than to lose.
Even if you stop using Jio sim after a certain period of time, all you lose is Rs.99, but as per the current scenario, you get a lot of benefits over non-Prime members as can be seen in the tariff table above.
Your Jio sim will still be valid for a stipulated period of time after the free promotional offer ends, even if you’re not a Prime member, but the outgoing service will terminate immediately until you recharge with one of the tariff packs.
