Indian smartphone company Lava has added two new devices to its range of smartphones — the Lava Z25 and Lava Z10 — at an event in New Delhi on March 22, 2017.

The Noida-based company, which began operations in 2009, has unveiled the devices in a different price range in a bid to widen their prospective market.

The Z25, as the number might suggest, is the bigger cousin of the two Z series devices unveiled by Lava and is priced at Rs.18000 while the Z10 is priced at Rs.11500.

“Lava Z25 and Z10 are packed with premium features of Camera, Fingerprint sensor, Design and Durability that go well beyond the conventional boundaries in this price segment,” said Gaurav Nigam, Product Head, Lava International Ltd.

At the time of purchase, the customer will be able to avail the best buy prices with a suitable discount being offered by the retailer on the MRP. The device will go on sale on March 23, 2017.

Processor

The Z25 is powered by MediaTek’s octa-core MT6750 SoC which clocks at 1.5GHz, supported by Mali-T860 GPU.

The Z10 is powered by MediaTek’s quad-core MT6737 SoC which clocks at 1.3GHz, supported by Mali-T720 GPU.

Display and Design

The Lava Z25 features a 5.5-inch HD display and the Z10 gets a 5-inch HD display.

Both the devices get a metal body with a 2.5D curved display.

Camera

Like many other smartphone companies, Lava has also laid its focus on the camera tech for its new launches, with both the front and rear camera setup on either of the devices receiving a flash.

The Lava Z25 sports a 13MP rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 5-layer Largan lens, blue glass filter and 8MP front camera with spotlight flash.

The Z10 sports an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with spotlight flash.

The company has tried to innovate with its rear camera features via software tweaks. The spotlight flash which comes with the front camera works fine in absolute darkness.

The rear camera of both the devices features Bokeh mode to get the blur effect — a feature usually found in DSLRs and dual-lens camera phones — and loads of other features such as Beauty cam, GIF mode, one for night photography and an intelligent mode that clicks upon face detection.

Storage and Memory

The bigger Lava variant has 4GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The smaller variant gets 2GB RAM with 16GB of internal storage which is also expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card.

Battery and OS

The Z25 is backed by a 3,020mAh battery unit while the Z10 is backed by a 2,620mAh battery pack. Both the devices run on Star OS 3.3, which is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.

Both the devices sport a dual-sim support. While the Z25 receives a fingerprint sensor on the back panel below the camera, Z10 is missing this feature.

The devices will be available in Gold and White. It’ll also be launched in Silver soon.

The Lava Z25 and Z10 are also the company’s first devices from their Indian design house which was created in 2016. The Indian smartphone company now has their presence in 13 countries globally.

Lava’s new flagship, the Z25, is the first device by the company to cross the Rs.15000 mark. The costliest device before it was Lava X81, which is currently selling for Rs. 11,499.
