Google is celebrating 5 years of android’s Play Store which is the hub of all things your android device needs — ranging from apps, games to books, movies and music.

Google Play (now Play Store) was launched on March 6, 2012, and currently boasts of more than a billion active users across 190 countries globally.

Currently, the Play store includes millions of apps and games, 40 million songs, 5 million books and thousands of movies.

There are various other services like Amazon app store, APK mirror and others which provide users with a platform to download Android app. But Play Store remains the most credible one as it doesn’t only ensure that apps are malware free, but it also serves timely updates for all the apps.

“On March 6, 2012, we opened our digital doors to offer you a one-stop shop to find and enjoy your favourite apps, games, movies, TV shows, music and books. Google Play brings your devices to life by delivering great content to people all around the world,” Sameer Samat, Vice President of Google Play, stated.

Google Play’s All-Time Top 5

The top 5 apps are ranked taking into account the number of downloads or sales for these apps and other content till date and you might not be at all surprised by several of the names popping up on the popular list.

Although Google apps are useful, in general, but this list doesn’t count them as they’re mostly pre-installed on devices.
