In addition to the new Pokemon, Niantic has also made tweaks to the evolution of creatures, enhanced the gameplay, introduced new berries and expanded customisation options for a player’s avatar in the game.
Pokemon with gender-specific variation will also be introduced with this new update for Android and iOS.
“Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and many more Pokémon are nearly here! Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon. We’ve also implemented some new features to enhance your Pokémon GO experience,” the Pokemon Team stated.
Updates to Pokemon GO
Evolutions in Pokemon GO has been updated as players will now be able to evolve some of their Pokemon found in the Kanto region to those found in the Johto region. New evolution items have also been added to the PokeStops, which will be needed for the aforementioned evolution.
Gameplay and music for when you encounter a Pokemon has also been updated. Now the Pokemon creature will behave in a refreshed manner and might trouble you more. Players will also be able to select Berries and Poke Balls directly from the encounter screen.
Two new berries have been added to the fold — Nanab and Pinap — which can be accessed by spinning the Photo Disc at PokeStops.
Nanab berries will slow down the Pokemon, making it easier to catch and using the Pinap berries will give you double the amount of candy if your next catch attempt is successful.
Players will also be able to customise their avatars with a new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and more.
The update also adds a new night-mode map, increases the number of candies you receive to catch an evolved Pokemon and has also ensured added stability when connecting to Apple Watch.
