Samsung has been teasing the crowd concerning the unveiling of 2017 versions of their Galaxy A series devices, and it’s expected that three devices from the series will be launched at the upcoming CES event in Las Vegas.
On Wednesday, the company put out a teaser on one of its Twitter pages which suggested that the 2017 A series devices will be water resistant.
However, it remains to be seen whether all the devices listed below receive water resistance or only the A7 which is rumoured to be launched with an IP68 certification — making it highly water and dust resistant.
Three devices, namely, the 2017 models of Samsung Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 are expected to be launched at the event.
There have been numerous speculations of what new features the third-generation of the Galaxy A series smartphones might get, and we’ve listed the most likely ones below.
The 2017 Galaxy A7 as well as the A5, is expected to get Samsung’s 1.8 GHz octa-core Exynos 7880 processor while the Galaxy A3 might be powered by a Samsung’s 1.5 GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor.
Better Images and Display
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A7 is tipped to sport a 5.7″ Full HD AMOLED display and a 16MP front and rear camera.
The 2017 A5 will receive a smaller 5.2″ Full HD AMOLED display alongwith the same camera specs as the A7 at 16MP for both rear and front.
The A3 gets the smallest of the lot with 4.7″ HD AMOLED display, a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.
More Memory to Store and Perform
The 2017 Samsung Galaxy A7 might be powered by a 3GB RAM, same as its 2016 variant but will get an upgrade on its internal memory which is going to be a 64GB unit, expandable via microSD card.
The Galaxy A5 will receive the same 2GB RAM as its 2016 variant but gets an upgrade on the internal memory at 32GB, expandable via microSD card.
The Galaxy A3 will get an upgrade at 2GB RAM to its 2016 variant which sported 1.5GB RAM unit but will receive the same 16GB storage as its predecessor, expandable via microSD card.
The company has also announced the launch event of the Galaxy A series devices in Kuala Lumpur on 5th January 2017, the same day as the first day of CES 2017 in Las Vegas.
This might mean that CES doesn’t get to see the launch of the three new devices or this can also mean that Kuala Lumpur might see a local launch of the device and CES witnesses the global launch.
