Coolpad Unveils its Flagship Phone with Dual Camera in India

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has unveiled its flagship phone — the Cool 1 — in India at an event in New Delhi on Wednesday, and the company has priced it at a mouthwatering Rs.13,999.

The major highlight of the phone is its dual rear 13MP camera setup, which assures users to deliver SLR-like images with Bokeh effect. The rear camera unit is supported by dual-LED flash, and the front end gets an 8MP snapper too.

The phone is going on sale exclusively on Amazon from January 5, 2017.

Among the other major features, the phone also packs a huge 4000 mAh battery, which boasts a standby time of up to 300 hours.

“India is among the top performing markets for Coolpad where we have sold close to 3 million units. The response we have got from our consumer over the years with every launch has been overwhelming. We aim to earn a spot within the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in China and India with our strong research and development legacy,” said James Du, Global CEO, Coolpad Group at the launch event.

This device brings together software and hardware strength of LeEco and Coolpad.

Other Features of the Cool 1

  • The Cool 1 is powered by a Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor which clocks at 1.8 GHz and Adreno 510 GPU.
  • The device comes with a 4GB RAM and an internal storage of 32GB.
  • The display is a 5.5″ IPS Full HD unit.
  • It runs on Android 6 Marshmallow.
  • The device also receives a fingerprint sensor on the rear.
  • The device supports dual-sim and runs the following bands of 4G: B1, 3, 5 and 40 — supports VoLTE.
  • The phone also gets Quick Charge technology, thanks to the Snapdragon 652 SoC.

Coolpad India CEO, Syed Tajuddin pointed out that with their dual camera setup and low pricing, ‘Coolpad wants to set a benchmark in the industry for other brands to follow’.

The phone is going to be available in two colours: silver and gold.

The company already has 25% market share on Amazon in the sub-Rs.8000 category and plans to expand that as well as its overall market share in the country to 4%.

The company hasn’t launched lower variants of the device but might do so depending on the customer feedback.
