Androids devices are smart, but wouldn’t you love it even more if they got smarter? How about having folders automatically customized depending on where you are and what you do? For instance, a folder on the homescreen changes to magically show all your music apps as soon as you plug in the earphones. Pretty cool, no?
And that’s just one example. Contextual App Folder (C.A.F.) can do a lot more. It creates a folder on the home screen and changes the apps inside it, as per the actions defined in the settings.
What is Contextual App Folder (C.A.F.)?
Contextual App Folder or C.A.F is an app that creates one dynamic folder on your home screen based on the context of an action or a trigger.
The folder is created by means of a widget that needs to be placed on the home screen.
C.A.F has a set of 9 set triggers. Depending on the scenario for which they are set, the contents of the folder will change. These triggers can be anything like connecting a headphone or arriving at a particular location.
You can save up on time and energy by setting the actions for the scenarios, ultimately saving you the hassle of repetitive taps on the phone.
How it Works
Open the app, and you will see a tray for default and a plus icon at the bottom right corner, which contains the list of scenarios.
Currently, the app features headphones, GEO location, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, charging, calling, time, notification and default. So based on these scenarios, you can set the required trigger.
The default trigger contains the app list which will be visible, if none of the other triggers are set into motion.
For adding the trigger, tap on that plus icon. It will bring up the list of triggers. Select a trigger and choose the apps that would combine well with the scenario. You can select the location option for your office location and opt for all the office related apps.
Note:It’s a very simple tool to use and the folder styles can be customized as per your liking. It has different options for layouts and backgrounds too.
The home screen layout config can also be customized based on your need.
Automation that Makes Sense
There is no dearth of apps that automate actions on Android, but only few of them are actually useful and work flawlessly. Contextual App Folder is one such app. You can set it and forget it, and it’ll keep reminding you of its existence when it works its magic every day. Well, I am already hooked!
