Ashish Mundhra

It’s 2016 and communication with a contact is not just limited to calls or SMS’. We have got a plethora of apps these days to communicate with our family and friends like WhatsApp, Skype, Telegram and many more. However, have you noticed that the traditional dialer we still use on our Android is limited to only calls and SMS’? If it’s a Skype call or a WhatsApp text or call, you need to open up the respective app, search for the contact there and then call your contact.

So basically, the contacts and dialer app have lacked behind and if you are not limited to calls and SMS for your communications, your dialer needs an upgrade. That’s what we will be looking at today.

Drupe Contacts & Phone Dialer

Drupe is an all new and updated Contacts & Phone Dialer that comes with an amazing design and features using which you can interact with your contacts and communication apps to contact them very easily. So let’s install the app to check that out and as the app is free, without any ads, there’s nothing that can hold you back.

Note: Please read the app’s Privacy Policy page if you wanna be sure what personal and 3rd party data is being collected by the app internally. However, to be frank, after my experience with True Caller I have stopped thinking about contact privacy anymore.

After the app is installed and configured, you will get a dialer and contact app icon to launch the app, but you can also use 3 dot gesture from the edge to just swipe in the app. You can even change this gesture from the app’s settings menu and move it to any edge.

Features of Drupe Contacts & Phone Dialer

So now, talking about the best feature of the app. On the left, you will have your favorite contacts and on the right, you will have the communication apps installed on your device. All you need to do is drag and drop the contact icon on top of the communication apps to fire it up. The list of apps can be configured from the settings and you can add or remove them depending on your frequency of usage. You can also swipe left or right to see recent and all contacts and use the same functionality.

Apart from different communication apps, you also get the option to set a reminder based on a contact and directly navigate o them using maps or even send then your location in a few taps. However, at times, you don’t wanna swipe and drag a contact all the way to the icon to just make a call. The app gives you the option to select default contact method which you can initiate by double tapping on the contact icon.

One cool feature about the app is that is that if you are not able to contact a person for any reason, Drupe will automatically give you a floating window where you can set a reminder to call back the contact after a while or redial again. The option to snooze is my personal favorite and helps in not forgetting those important calls.

In the settings menu, you can configure to block calls and enable support for dual SIM. You also get the option to set birthday reminders. For people who love to customize, you get the option to download various themes or use a personal photo from the gallery.

Conclusion

So all in all, I am pretty impressed by the Drupe Contact and Dialer app. There are features I have always wanted there in a dialer. Of course, some are still missing like contacts photo update from a connected social network which is on top of my list. So try out the app and let me know what you think about all the features it comes loaded with. The app is free, without any ads and if you fine with their privacy policy, I am sure you are gonna love it.
