Ashish Mundhra

We all have those friends on Facebook who have a habit of oversharing things. Be it selfies, check-ins to a place or just some funny cat videos, they don’t think twice before sharing those. A few such friends in your timeline will make a mess out of your news feeds and chances are that you might miss out on important updates from your friends while the video with a cat chasing the laser auto plays.

Moreover, you cannot unfriend them because of obvious reasons. But that doesn’t mean that they should dominate your timeline. The story is the same with some of the Facebook pages who just spams in every few hours. If you are looking for an example, you can check out 9GAG. But then, once in awhile, when you are feeling low, you need posts from them to cheer you up.

So today, I will show you how you can reduce posts from these friends and apps without unfriending them. First of all, we will look at the manual way to get things done and then talk about an app to take care of things automatically.

Manually Unfollowing People and Pages

So let’s take a few scenarios when your Facebook friend is spamming your feed. There might be chances that most of the annoying videos and pics that he is sharing are because of the particular page they like or share from. So whenever you see your friend doing that the next time, click on the small arrow you see next to their name.

In the list, you will get a few options like Unfollow and Hide All from .

So if your friend shares posts from just a few Facebook pages you would like hidden from your timeline, just select the appropriate option. But if you wish to hide all activities from your friend, make sure you click on the Unfollow option. You can do the same with pages that share a lot of ‘spammy’ things every hour or promote other pages to you.
