Smartphones often don’t cut it when we want great sound. When you hear the words “Bluetooth speakers”, you might think of expensive sound with booming bass like the Beats Pill for $199. $200 just for casual listening is far too pricey. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Plenty of Bluetooth speakers are available for under $50 and some even for under $25 that deliver great sound quality. You won’t need to trade off on style either because they look as sleek as can be and are just as reliable as speakers with price tags in the triple digits. Having Bluetooth devices around tends to make life easier.
From table-side to waterproof, here are four Bluetooth speakers with great boom for your buck.
The DKnight Magicbox is arguably the best Bluetooth speaker money can buy at its price point. For as little as $26 on Amazon, you get powerful, rich sound and extraordinary battery life – up to 10 hours of playback. It runs on a lithium-ion battery to recharge when necessary.
It also supports Bluetooth 3.0 so you do more with your smartphone like check the battery life of the device. Plus, speaking of phones, the speaker even comes with a built-in microphone so you can make hands-free calls on speakerphone.
The Magicbox is compact and travel-friendly at only 8.3 ounces, yet still manages to produce loud and clear sound for the price. You can also get it in black, red or blue.
Cool Tip: The Magicbox can even function without a Bluetooth connection. If you have a microSD card, the speaker will recognize MP3 files if you insert it and automatically start playing them locally.
808 Canz is the Bluetooth speaker you might have seen in the back of someone’s truck at a tailgating party. Its unique design is fun and retro, but it also provides stellar audio quality, particularly if you like a solid, booming bass.
The Canz is available in black, blue, purple, red or silver starting at $24.89 on Amazon. For the price, you might be better off with the Magicbox for better sound, but the Canz might still be worth it if you prefer style.
Plus, the Canz does offer a unique design in which the sound comes out of the top so it fills an entire room instead of facing in a particular direction. This also makes it easier to place anywhere, including down on the floor or a low shelf so it’s tucked away and hidden from sight.
It only gets 6 hours of battery life compared to the Magicbox’s 10 hours though, so that’s a downside to consider.
SoundSOUL Fountain Dancing Bluetooth Speakers
You don’t just want sound, you want entertainment. The SoundSOUL Fountain Dancing Bluetooth Speakers should help with that. Not only do they produce loud, full sound, but they put on an awesome light and fountain show to the rhythm of the music.
Multiple spouts inside the acrylic tube perched atop the speakers shoot out liquid (vegetable oil) which gets color from six different multi-colored LEDs. For only $29.99 on Amazon, it’s perfect to show off at a get-together or party. These speakers sure are jam-packed with features too, including an optional 3.5 mm wired line-in and microSD MP3 player.
Given the size of the speakers and the fact that you get two of them (for left and right sound) they aren’t meant to be as portable as the other options on this list. They aren’t powered by battery either, just USB, which is good or bad depending on your preference for portability versus usability.
The AquaAudio Cubo is the staple waterproof Bluetooth speaker to finish off the list. It features a suction cup in the back of the device so it can stick to shower walls, windows, or even your car dashboard. It’s truly portable in that regard, plus it starts at just $18 on Amazon – the cheapest of all four and none of the others are resistant to water.
The Cubo also has controls right on the device for powering on and off, skipping forward or backward, playing or pausing, and even making hands-free phone calls when it’s connected to your smartphone. It promises 10-hour battery life and is rechargeable.
The downside is that you won’t get the same sound quality from waterproof speakers like these as you will with the slightly more expensive speakers that can’t endure water. While this is one of the best among its kind, it’s meant for solo dance parties in the shower.
You can get the Cubo in black, blue, gold, pink or silver.
