Popular file hosting services such as Rapidshare, MegaUpload, Mediafile etc provide both free and premium file sharing options. But downloading files for free isn’t a smooth ride. They try to lure you into buying a premium account by popping up ads, delaying the download and other such tricks.
Skipscreen is a nifty Firefox add-on that lets you bypass these pop ups and downloading quickly without getting stuck on these file sharing websites. This addon supports many such sites including Rapidshare, Megaupload, 4shared, Hotfile, Mediafire and many more.
To use this addon, download and install it, and then restart your Firefox browser. Now go to Tools-> Addons. Under “Extensions” tab, go to the Skipscreen option.
Skipscreen preferences will open. You can turn on or off skippers for various websites. There are plenty of sites available. Depending on your membership, you could set the preferences. For example, if you are a premium member of Hotfile, then you don’t need to switch on the corresponding skipper.
Now you can visit any of the above listed website. Suppose I want to download a file from Rapidshare. To do that I’ll have to type the file address in the browser and press enter. And that’s it. Skipscreen does the rest. It means I don’t need to click “Free User” button or “Download File” button to start downloading the file. Time saving, isn’t it?
After a few seconds, a download window will appear. Click on the “OK” button to start the download.
That’s how this extension saves time when downloading files from Rapidshare, Megaupload etc. No more annoying ads, no more update notifications. Download files with ease.
Note: This addon doesn’t bypass waiting time on file hosting sites. Once you type the address of file, you can leave your window, and Skipscreen will show the downloading file information automatically when it is available. Hence, you don’t need to wait on the website for the download button to appear.
