How to Sync Your Yahoo and Hotmail Calendars

Importing a

calendar

from one application or web service to another is a good practice. The advantage is that you do not have to integrate scattered events and activities manually. Once they are at one place, you can quickly scour through your appointments and engagements without a hassle.

Previously, we have discussed on how to sync Google calendar with MS Outlook, Windows Live Mail and desktop application. Today we will tell you how to bring together Yahoo and Hotmail events under one roof.

The process is quite simple yet a little tricky. So, I suggest you follow the steps exactly as detailed below.

Step 1: Log in to your Hotmail account and navigate to its calendar section. Click on Share and choose the calendar you wish to share.

Step 2: Among the options here, select the radio button reading Share this calendar. This will expand the sharing section and other details.

Step 3: Scroll down to the section for Send people a view-only link to your calendar and click on Get your calendar links to activate the subscription links.

Step 4: Under Links that show event details, click on the link against ICS (Import into another calendar application).

Step 5: The ICS link will show up. Copy the entire link and save it somewhere so that you have it handy when it is required.

Step 6: Log in to your Yahoo account this time, and launch its calendar application.

Step 7: Spot the Actions button, expand it and choose to Subscribe to Other Calendars.

Step 8: You would be prompted to enter the iCal address. And what you copied in Step 5 is the ICS address. So, replace webcals  with http and then save the subscription on Yahoo. You may give it a name and color too.

You would now be able to see details of your Hotmail calendar on the Yahoo interface.

Let us now learn to do it the other way round.

Step 1: Log in to your Yahoo account and launch its calendar application.

Step 2: Spot the Actions buttons, expand it and choose to Share.

Step 3: Choose Share with specific people  and hit on Continue button.

Step 4: Next, highlight on iCalendar and Web Address and copy the iCal Address. Save it somewhere so that you have it handy when it is required. Click on Save before navigating away.

Step 5: Log in to your Hotmail account and navigate to its calendar section. Click on Subscribe.

Step 6: On the box named Calendar URL paste the iCal address that you had copied in Step 4. Also give you calendar a name, color and save it.

You would now be able to see details of your Yahoo calendar on the Hotmail interface.

Conclusion

Choose the way you want to synchronize your calendar and apply the settings to get more organized. I suggest you do it both ways so that your calendars are always available, no matter which email account you are logged in to.
