Many Android users don’t ROOT their devices in the fear that they might brick their phones. Rooting your Android device doesn’t necessarily make your phone blazingly fast.

It simply means that you now have access to the system directories and are capable of making changes that the manufacturers did not want you to.

The perfect example of this would be to delete system applications or other bloat ware present on your phone which you don’t use.

After rooting your device, you also get exposed to the world of custom ROMs and various system applications such as Titanium backup etc.

z4root is a simple application for your Android device, which would let you root your phone with just a single tap.

Just install the application on your device and you are good to go.

If you don’t want to root your device permanently, you can temporarily root your device, which would mean that it would be un-rooted when you reboot your phone. Nice!

So, if you are worried about voiding your warranty by rooting the device, you can go with the temporary root option to see if you would actually be willing to root your device permanently.

The app works with 99% of the available Android devices such as Xperia X10, Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak, Motorola Milestone and many more. Although, there are a couple of devices such as HTC Desire HD and HTC EVO which are incompatible with the application at the moment.

The application is not present in the Android market anymore, hence you would have to install the application by transferring the apk from the PC to your device.

Follow the tutorial below to know how you can do so.

Step 1.

Download the apk file from xda-developers.

Step 2.

Transfer the apk to your Android device.

Step 3.

Now, with any file explorer on your device (I recommend Astro File Manager) locate the file and install the application.

That’s it. Open the application on your device and follow the on-screen instructions to root your phone.

Rooting via z4root is completely safe as it does not change anything on the disk apart from the root binaries.

Shall you run into any problems, let us know in the comments and we would try to help you out.

This is the easiest and safest way to root your Android device. So, try it and enjoy your rooted phone.

Hey Dustin,
I don’t see any problem as to why it should not work with Moto Droid 1.
I would recommend you read the instructions on the original thread at xda-developers and try again.
