How To Get Your iPhone Out of Recovery Mode

Post image for How To Get Your iPhone Out of Recovery Mode

Jailbreaking your iPhone or iPod touch is a simple task but at times it so happens that you get un-identified errors or your iPhone ends up in Recovery or DFU mode.

If you find yourself in the latter stage, you have come to the right place.

In this tutorial, I would teach you, How To kick your iPhone out of the Recovery mode.

iPhone-recovery-mode

Follow the steps below.

Step 1.

Download TinyUmbrella for your PC. It works on Mac, Windows and Linux.

Step 2.

Connect your iPhone in Recovery mode to your PC if it isn’t connected already.

Step 3.

Open TinyUmbrella.

Step 4.

Let TinyUmbrella recognize your iPhone in Recovery mode.

Step 5.

Once it recognizes your iPhone, you can kick your iPhone out of the Recovery mode by tapping the button “Exit Recovery”.

Exit Recovery

That’s it. Your iPhone would now boot normally.

If you run into any other problems while doing this, share with us and we would help you out.

However, if you want to restore your iPhone, you can read our previous article on how to put your iPhone in Recovery mode.

I had a similar issue on my 3G – the only difference was I was using 4.2.1 and Baseband 6.15. I did some google-ing to find the right firmware, and then downloaded the correct firmware version, then used “sn0wbreeze” to re-jailbreak the phone (using SHIFT and the Restore option in iTunes). Then re-synced all my apps and phonebook etc thru iTunes, and finally unlocked it with ultrasn0w!

Hi I have the iphone 3gs and its been jailbroken before, I linked it with my itunes and try to restore it but gave an error at the end and put me to recovery mode, I tried tinyumbrella, but it just kept saying running tss server and my iphone is still in recovery mode..Please help, I am using Windows Vista..I don’t need to restore it, I just want it to work again. It was working fine, until I hooked up my phone with my computer and itunes asked me to update the software and like an idiot I did, so now I’m stuck..Please help thank you in advance.

Not working on my iphone 3g. The exit recovery is available to be clicked using tinyumbrella but it only turns it off and back to recovery mode. The phone was sent into recovery mode because my girlfriend tried to uninstall the facebook app and the phone locked up. Then she restarted it and it was in recovery mode ever since. Just a little more detail for you more cpu literate folks.

tried to open my facebook app and it would show the load screen for a second then keep going back to the home page..it actually started doing that with all my apps..none of them would load..so i figured i’d delete the app then reinstall it..the reinstall didn’t work so i figured i’d shut it down then start it back up…i tried to turn my ipod on again..then it went to the little apple load up screen and stayed like that FOREVER…so i held the pwoer & home buttons for a bit..then it went into recovery mode..im so mad. i’ve been trying to get it out of this for the past 2 days..adn no programs would work..not tinyumbrella, blackrain, recboot, irec, nothing ><

I guess I have bricked my iphone 3gs. Firstly, I tried to restore 4.2.1 using itunes and tinnyUmbrella and it was restored in itunes but iTunes say ‘iphone is in Recovery Mode, need to restore’ and again i used Fixrecovery but the problem is same. My Iphone is Dead now. How to boot my iphone now? Please help

my iphone 3gs does not appear on the tiny umbrella program

It worked for my iPhone 3GS, thank you so much. To everyone not having success: try going through the process to get Tiny Umbrella to recognize your iPhone again after you’ve already exited recovery mode, and give it time. I was certain it had failed, since my iPhone still wouldn’t boot past the Apple logo, but when TinyUmbrella recognized it the second time, it showed the device with the same name I gave it (when before, it was only recognized by its serial number), and just a couple seconds later, my iPhone booted normally. Good luck everyone!

There´s one year worth of comments here and nobody from this site has made any attempt at helping at all. There´s nobody here to read the comments.

Be sure to click on the name whatever it is if its numbers of weird letter, that is under “Recent Devices” then the “Exit Recover” Button will show and then click on it.

a box popped up says- “set hosts to cydia on exit” is set- if your having issues you need to uncheck this box and apply changes and then at the bottom of the box in bold caps lock letters is says- be warned if you restore stock apple firmware your baseband can and will be uptaded. not too sure what all that means, cant figure it out and umbrella wont locate my iphone. what do i do?

APRIL'S NOT HERE YET March 25, 2012 at 4:15 pm

and this isn’t funny. I’m so ready to throw this ipod touch off the roof. I can’t seem to get out of recovery. when i connect it to a wall jack, i get the connect to itunes “image/jpeg”. When connect to the many ports on computer, I don’t get that image. Still flashes white screen after few sec’s. Itunes attempts to restore, but failed and hrs later, I’m tired.

FIXRECOVERY/TINY UMBRELLA… not very sucessful.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? Appreciate it.

Decided to let it be for a few days and drain itself out. Several attempts using Itunes, was able to restore it.

Well, for all suckers who say that the “exit recovery button is not working”. First left click on your “iphone” in “connected devices area”, it will work for you
