iPhone Users Are Getting These 3 New WhatsApp Features

After adding a dedicated video call button to its messaging service last month, WhatsApp has released three new features but exclusively for iPhone users in its app version 2.17.30.

WhatsApp Messenger for iPhone gets new built-in photo filters, photo album feature and a quick reply shortcut.

Filters for Media Attachments

The most popular messenger was updated with the new Filters features for media attachments such as images, videos — either clicked directly from the camera or from the gallery — and GIFs.

Now users will be able to add filters to these media files directly from within the app, simply by clicking or picking the media file and swiping to apply a suitable filter from out of these five options — pop, black and white, cool, chrome, and film.

Certainly, more filters will be added in future updates to the app.

Photo Albums

Now on, whenever a contact sends five or more images or videos simultaneously in a chat, they’ll be grouped together like an album, with four of the images featuring in a┬átile thumbnail — instead of the stream of images lining up one after the other.

Tapping on the album will open up a full-screen gallery of all the images or videos in that album

Quick Reply Shortcut

Another update for the iOS WhatsApp Messenger makes replying to messages even more convenient.

Users simply need to swipe right on any contact from the ‘Chats’ thread on the app and start typing the reply — both for individual and group messages.

The features have currently only been released on iOS and there has been no official word on the Android launch date for these features.

But it is quite possible that these will land up on Android devices soon, just like built-in GIF search functionality which was first introduced on iOS.
