Xiaomi has been teasing the Indian audience and the media alike for quite some time now and has finally unveiled three variants of Redmi Note 4 on Thursday at an event in New Delhi.

The Chinese company had already released the Note 4 in numerous countries across the globe but failed to launch its product in India, primarily due to a patent dispute with Ericsson in the country — surrounding the Mediatek SoC that power the device.

The device has been launched with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor and packs many more features.

The three variants of the Redmi Note 4 will be sold for Rs.9,999, Rs.10,999 and Rs.12,999. The device enjoys quite a few upgrades on its predecessor, the Redmi Note 3, and will hit the shelves for sale at midnight on January 23, 2017, on Flipkart and Mi’s official website.

“We are really thankful to everyone who made Redmi Note 3 one of the most popular devices in 2016. The immense appreciation we received and the feedback from our Mi fans motivated us to take it to the next level with Redmi Note 4,” said Xiaomi VP Huga Barra at the launch of Redmi Note 4.

Power-packed SoC and Battery

The Redmi Note 4 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is thinner in size at 14nm to the 28nm Snapdragon 650 SoC present on its predecessor, hence, enhancing battery life and decreasing the heating. It will be supported by Adreno 506 GPU.

The Snapdragon 625 SoC is an octa-core unit which clocks at 2.0 GHz, a 200MHz higher speed than its predecessor. The device is backed by a 4100mAh battery, that is big enough to supply juice to the device for hours on end.

Increased Pixel Density in the Snapper

The phone sports a 5.5″ Full-HD display with 2.5D Arc screen design, a 13MP quick-response primary camera and a 5MP front camera.

The primary camera has been slashed from the previously available 16MP snapper on its predecessor but enjoys technologies such as PDAF and a Sony BSI sensor as well as bigger pixels.

Upgraded Storage and Memory

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in three variants, as mentioned above. The lower priced variant comes with a combination of 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the mid-priced variant comes with 3GB RAM alongwith 32GB of internal storage, while the costlier version among the three packs 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

The storage is expandable to 128GB using a microSD card.

The device will work on Android Marshmallow-based MIUI8 out of the box with Nougat based-MIUI9. The Redmi Note 4 will also be launched in Matte Black colour, apart from the Dark Silver and Gold.

Xiaomi devices have been very well received in the Indian market in the past, and given the pricing of their latest unveiling, it would come as no surprise to see the Redmi Note 4 make a room for itself in the consumers’ pocket.
