What’s Your Favorite Browser and Why? [Q of the Day]

Whats your favorite browser

Until Mozilla Firefox launched sometime in 2004 ( it was released under the Phoenix name in 2002 though ), the browser market was primarily an Internet Explorer monopoly. But things have changed now. IE’s share has been dropping continuously since Firefox’s launch, and we also have Chrome, Opera and Safari in its new avatar competing for the pie.

So, we want to know, what’s your primary browser? Is it Firefox? or the minimalistic Chrome? or do you love Opera? Which one is it?

First, if you are still stuck with Internet Explorer 6, upgrade immediately. Either get a higher version of the same browser or switch to a different one. Lots of security and other issues with that version.

We would also love to know what makes you to stick to a particular browser. What are the features you like? Let’s hear about them in the comments.

    Netscape navigator FTW lol j/k
i rock chrome and firefox but mostly chrome now because it has the extensions i need and starts up quickly and syncs across my other pc’s

  • JasonCook599

I use Chromium because it is Open Source, support for extensions and run fast. I won’t use Google Chrome because of the EULA.

    • Abhijeet

Jason, as far as I remember Google Chrome did have some EULA troubles where in they mentioned that every user data belongs to them. But I suppose they said they’d change it. They haven’t yet?

      • JasonCook599

I know that there were problems in it, but I think that they have fixed it. The EULA is located at http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html. The licence is quite long and I don’t have time to read all of it. Chromium and chrome are almost identical (I don’t know of any differences other than the branding.) so I will use it as Chromium The licence Chromium is released under is open source and very short It is located at https://code.google.com/chromium/terms.html.

I’ve currently for the last 6 months have had IE8 disabled in Windows 7. There is such a security risk with anything Internet Explorer. I’ve set Google Chrome to my default browser and Mozilla Firefox is my second browser of choice for other reasons. Google Chrome is my first choice because of the minimalism of it. It’s very fast and it keeps me organized in a easy way. Firefox I use for downloading etc. It’s a great browser yet it has become slow in my opinion. If Mozilla can fix the slow issue. It could be back in the game as far as I’m concerned.

    • Abhijeet

Yeah, Chrome has an edge when it comes to speed. But Firefox can be made faster. We are planning to publish a detailed guide soon.

Avant works well for me followed by Firefox

I am still addicted to firefox, the main reason is the large number of add-ons.

  • Simakuutio

I have been using Opera _very_ long time (since 4.x or something like that) and no intentions to change my habits now… Opera just works. Nothing else matters.

I use firefox it’s very great with it’s useful addons and tricks which you explianed before.
but others is so slow or stop more like chrome

  • roger

Admittedly I would prefer it to be a tad (or even a bucketload) faster but, for the amount and variety of add-ons available, Firefox wins hands down for me. The main point being perhaps not the add-ons I’m using at the moment (I have a hard core of about 50 regular add-ons that I almost never change) but the ones I can download and play with and then, in the majority of cases, discard. Were I using the internet primarily for work rather than entertainment no doubt my choice would be based on criteria other than how much fun I can have playing with my browser. Still, until Chrome or someother as yet unknown browser can equal, or surpass, Firefox in terms of user malleability, then the ‘fox has my vote.

    • Abhijeet

Yeah, when it comes to add-ons, Firefox has the edge. But Chrome is catching up fast. I use both the browsers though.

    flock (the old version)(firefox based)

becouse the looks, the add-ons, the speed, the standard support of lots of websites like facebook

  • banjo

i just fell in love with SR Iron
    a low carb,racing snake version of chrome…Whooooosh!!
I`ve had no issues with it…..yet!

Like everyone, mine is Firefox too – it’s quick and if it crashes it saves the tabs you had up so they can be reloaded again. I just like the way it’s layed out and how easy it is to use.
