BBC World Cup Fixtures Imports World Cup Schedule In Your Calendar [Reader Tip Of The Day]

So here goes the first “Reader Tip Of The Day” post. As we mentioned earlier, we will try to feature a reader tip everyday. Here goes the first one!

Sometime ago, we published how to subscribe to your favorite soccer team’s World Cup schedule in Google Calendar. One of our active readers, Roger, tipped us through his comment on that post about a cool software by BBC related to that topic.

He suggested world cup fixture, a calendar file offered by BBC which can be used to import World cup events in Outlook, Google Calendar or iCal. And this tool has a unique feature too, which you’ll find out soon.

1. To use this tool first go to sport channel of the BBC website.

2. Download the world_cup_2010_calendar.ics file on your computer.

3. Now go to Google Calendar (or any other personal calendar tool that you use).

4. Import the downloaded calendar.

5. That’s it. You’ll get all the match schedules. The main advantage of using BBC calendar is it comes with automatic 15 minutes match reminder. It means 15 minutes before starting the match, it will remind you by sending pop ups. You can also set it to send via mail or SMS.

Note: Don’t forget to set the local time in Google Calendar. To set the time go to Settings –> Calendar settings. In general tab, select the country and your current time zone from the given drop down.

Download the World Cup fixtures to import world cup schedule in your calendar and get reminded automatically. [Thanks Roger].
