Searching is one of the most common and essential things that we do on the web. I agree that Google is the de facto way of searching the internet but that’s only when we don’t have a clue where to look for.
Suppose you want to search about a movie and read the reviews it has got. You would probably prefer jumping on directly to a site like IMDb for this, right?
Previously we have already seen how we can create and save custom Google search engine to search a specific website and get targeted results in a cleaner interface. But now that Windows 8 Modern UI is becoming popular, users would need apps that could help them with all their searching needs directly from the Modern interface itself.
Thinking from a Windows 8 tablet user’s point of view, we have already seen why the Google search app is three times as better as the Official Bing app. But today I have something more amazing for you all.
Search All is Modern UI App using which you can search many web services from a single app. A user can search through Google, Yahoo, IMDB, Amazon, Twitter, Facebook and many more, right from one interface.
Search All for Windows 8
Search All is available in Windows 8 Store for free which you may go ahead and install. When you launch the app, you will see a unified search box with different online app icons lined up one after another below it.
All you need to do is type in the search query in the box and touch/click the corresponding service you want to do the search on. Suppose you want to read the review of the recent James Bond movie Skyfall, type in the movie name in the search box and select IMDB among the boxes.
The app will search IMDB and open the result in the app itself. You can now read reviews and browse related information easily. The real beauty of the app lies in the fact that you don’t have to open your browser to have a look at the search results. After reading the review on IMDB, you can select YouTube and have a look at the trailer plus all the related videos… all in one interface!
If you are concerned about your privacy, there’s again a good news. The app does not care about what a user is searching and does not store it anywhere on your computer or on the web.
While I am already liking the app as a desktop user, Windows 8 tablet users are definitely gonna love it. Moreover, now that I have started exploring Windows 8 Modern Apps, don’t forget to tune in regularly. It would be disappointing if you miss out on anything exciting… so, keep reading!
